"Cattin' for a Cause" KC Catfish's 1st Annual benefit Tournament was for the Sam
and Lindsey Porter Memorial Fund this Year. As seems to be the Norm For KCC's
tournament series this year, the day started off with severe thunderstorms. Even with
the terrible weather they managed to get half the expected turn out for 16 boats.

After an hour and a half delay, KC Catfish founder Brad Kilpatrick made the decision
to release the teams at their own discretion. Most teams chose to brave the
elements. A few remianed and enjoyed the shelter of the Lewis and Clark Building.

Shortly after the delayed launch, the team of Matt Merton and Craig Collings weighed
the first (and largest) fish of the day with a 38.4 pound Blue Cat. Matt and Craig
scored two prizes for this fish. A beautiful Hand Made knife by Rusty Stamper for the
first fish weighed in over 33 lbs, and a John Jamison Blue cat rod from the Rod Shop
KC. This team managed to score one more small fish for a total of 38.8 lbs good
enough for 2nd place.

The team of John Jamison, Mark Thompson, and Brent Frazee (KC Star) weighed the
only limit of the day 5 fish for 34.6 lbs. This team caught all their fish in a forty minute
span landing 6 fish and losing 2 more.

Brad Kilpatrick and Ben Clumsky made up the winning team. They began fishing the
Kaw but soon changed the game plan and headed out onto the Missouri. Within 20
minutes of getting set up on a Trail Dyke They landed their first fish, a 31.4 pound
Blue. Several Hours later after only managing a few soft bites they decided to make a
move into the channel. Setting up on a swing bank they landed their second fish, a
15.4 pound Blue, with 20 minutes of Tournament time left for a total of 46.8 pounds.

The Sam and Lindsey Porter Memorial Fund Was the big winner of the day getting a
$1,360 Donation from this event. A big thanks to all who made this event possible.
And a tip of the hat to the Catfishermen who showed up and braved some terrible
weather conditions to support this great cause. Goes to show how tough
catfishermen are but We still have huge heart. GREAT JOB GUYS!!!!!!
